Who I am    Some words about me    Film and slides before 2005...

First steps

I started photography in 1984, after I was gifted a camera for my "baccalaureat" graduation. The camera was a Pentax Super A, with its 1.7/50mm prime lens. A couple of years later, I bought a 135mm short telelens. After becoming a PhD student and debuting as research and teaching assistant, I started travelling to conferences and internatinoal universities. In Seoul, Korea, I bought a Pentax LX. Over these years, I always had some spare money to buy second-hand lenses. This is how I expanded my gear of A and M lenses, with all sorts of wide angulars and some short teles that I'm still using. I felt in love with the M "pancake" lens.

During these years, I was working a lot as a photographer in parallel with my other activities, mainly in sports (rallyes, car races, climbing), and sometimes shooting pressbooks for wanabee models.
As I was shooting color film (KODAK PORTRA) and slides (FUJI) most of the time, I have never been into lab stuff. I was working then with Cine Photo Provence, a specialized lab located in Aix-en-Provence.
